Oh Holy One

In the snow, lights dance and shine
In the glow, colors are clear and fine

Snow falls down to cover
Every shape makes wonder

Anything in the way is wrapped
In dreams from clouds were angels napped

Sleepy eyes make form from time
White crystals a restful rhyme

Footprints in the snow
Prophets pattern in the cover

No one knows these feet from Thine
Why they came and why they brother

Born to lift the light on high
Like a diamond in the sky

From heaven they fall
Now they gather

On holy ground
The Child is matter.

Merry Christmas

Santahood

SANTAHOOD IS COMING TO TOWN
a strange and wondrous tale
by charles mistretta

        ONCE UPON A MIDNIGHT DREARY,
I GRABBED MY BAG IN SUCH A FURY,
WANTING TO PLEASE LITTLE GIRLS AND BOYS.

THOSE REINDEER GROANED, AND MUSED WITH RANCOR,
THEN NEVER WAS HEARD, SUCH SNORTS OF BANTER,
QUIVERING I FILLED MY SACK WITH TOYS.

        THE NIGHT SO FULL, ANTICIPATING,
        WONDROUS DONATIONS, COMMISERATING,
DID I DESERVE THIS GIFT TO PLEASE?

OLD BONES RACKED, WITH ARDOR SENSING,
AN AWESOME RIDE AHEAD IN FENCING,
MY CALLING NEVER ENDING, THIS NIGHT OF TEASE.

        THESE WORDS SO STUPEFYING, CONFUSING,
        FIEND REGRET, FOR THE LOSING,
SO MUCH - SO FEW - HAS GOT TO BE A CRIME.

THEN I, OH CHAMPION A GLEAMING,
CONTRIBUTE MORE, MY SACK IS TEAMING,
WITH TOYS FROM LITTLE GIRLS AND BOYS.

        WHOSE LIVES NOW QUIETLY ESTEEMING,
        IN DESTITUTION THEY ARE GLEANING,
FROM MY SIMPLE ACTS OF PEASANT JOY.

I THE SANTA, TOYS FOR TAKING,
        DESIRE CHARITY, RELISH RAKING,
NEW CHILDREN'S' EYES WILL GLISTEN EVER MORE.

Watch - Nostalgic or Practical

The battery for this old electric watch will cost more than the tax free ship board purchase price.
(a day later)
Got to be nostalgia, I lost the crystal after wearing the watch once.
I know, nobody gives a care.
Why should anyone share in my insignificant loss?
I don't care.
Ha!

Nelson Mandela: A memorial

"We will not likely see the likes of Nelson Mandela again," the President said. "So it falls to us as best we can to forward the example that he set:  to make decisions guided not by hate, but by love; to never discount the difference that one person can make; to strive for a future that is worthy of his sacrifice."
