A life clue

A young airman stands in his unit quadrangle while in charge of quarters
and stares in awe at the early evening sky. Was what he was about to see
a warning or a gift? The spectacular display of light inspired this next poem.

Yellow hues of crisp green lightening
Crackling past the moon.
Life is not a storm nor wonder
But an instant doomed.
