Some of the most talked about news in the US are the Pandora Dossier, the California oil spill, and the Nobel Prize winners in medicine.

An international consortium of journalists based in the US capital, Washington, has conducted a massive investigation into corruption among world leaders. As a result of the global investigation, known as "Pandora's dossier» (Pandora papers), journalists became available nearly 12 million documents. The data reveal offshore schemes, tax evasion and, in some cases, money laundering by some of the world's most powerful people, government officials and their families. Among those mentioned in the investigation: King Abdullah II of Jordan, the family of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babishch, General Director of the Russian Channel One Konstantin Ernst, Svetlana Krivonogikh, who is called a close friend of the President of Russia.

Environmental disaster threatens Southern California. Last weekend, an estimated 570 cubic meters of oil spilled into the ocean and created a slick of about 34 square kilometers. The head of the company that owns the pipeline said the leak had been repaired. However, the oil spill caused irreversible damage to the environment. Work is underway to clear the coast.

Physiologist David Julius (University of California) and molecular biologist Ardem Pataputyan (Howard Hughes Medical Institute, California) shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Scientists were awarded for the discovery of temperature and touch receptors.

Pandemic

In Russia , 890 people died from COVID-19 per day - this is the maximum number in this country since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

The British company Vatic announced that it has developed a 15-minute test to determine the degree of infectiousness of a person in terms of transmission of the coronavirus. The test is being tested and is not yet available.

NBA star Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors, who had previously refused the COVID-19 vaccine for religious reasons, was still vaccinated. Wiggins was one of several league players who refused to be vaccinated.
