One man one vote

Returning the right to rule and make rules to all the people all the time, something missing when wealth means absolute power.  Will Waren's ideas influence action that the total population can live with, meaning some share so more can care if it is worth working. " I worry both for capitalism and for democracy. People across this country once believed that folks who work hard and play by the rules have a chance to be able to build real security and that their kids will do better than they did. Today, that dream runs into a very hard reality that this is now a world that works better and better for a smaller and smaller number of people. That's a problem for capitalism and for democracy at the same time." Source  Raedle / Getty / Boule / ImageFlow / Shutterstock / The Atlantic

Reflections of song past

Down a hollow to a cavern Where the sun has never shone, Like a door that keeps revolving In a half forgotten dream, Or the ripples from a pebble Someone tosses in a stream Like a clock whose hands are sweeping .... Keys that jingle in your pocket Words that jangle in your head Why did summer go so quickly ? Was it something that you said ? Lovers walk along a shore And leave their footprints in the sand Is the sound of distant drumming Just the fingers of your hand ? Pictures hanging in a hallway And the fragment of this song Half remembered names and faces But to whom do they belong ? He: when you knew That it was over You were suddenly aware That the autumn leaves were turning To the color Of her hair ! She: when you knew That it was over In the autumn of goodbyes For a moment You could not recall the color Of his eyes ! Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning On an ever spinning reel As the images unwind Like the circles That you find In

Can an authoritarian president determine the outcome of the democratic country who elected him?   " Pardons can protect the president’s associates from prison. But they can’t protect the president issuing the pardon—if anything, they would worsen his exposure and enhance the impression of guilt." Source      David Frum is a senior editor at The Atlantic . In 2001–02, he was a speechwriter for President George W. Bush.

The distance between objects in space is measured in light years    One light year is equal to six trillion miles   Moving from one planet to the next may be almost impossible with conventional propulsion  The Planets that we can see will possibly have had life that became extinct before earth was able to sustain life  We are alone in our universe  separated by time from any living organism  which is probably why there has been life at all at any time   Take care of the planet we live on

Ten arguments

For Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now Social media is no more perfect and noble than the society that uses it.  Why delete your social media account if it pleases you to tell the world about your new birth or latest family upheaval.  Anyway, besides a hand full of people, who cares, and who reads it?  Social media is the release you get from dumping on family and friends and occasionally political rivals.  I know, long before social media as such I wrote so many emails to family that one sibling encouraged me to start a blog.  That was years ago and some of this stuff isn't to bad, albeit opinionated under the guise of art and other reasonable excuses to be heard.  Social media shapes society.  An example would be the human drones I saw in a local park.  All of them heads down staring into their phones while ignoring the magnificence of nature.  Aldous Huxley would be proud to see his somewhat zombie like fellow man mesmerized by a hand full of plastic

Today  at least in the US   the cars are either Black or White   with the rest in shades between  Do we live in such a world where personal preferences are so limited   or don't we see beyond the ability to imagine color s vibrancy and fancy The above photo shows that the little things in life still have color   When there is a colorful personality do we shrink away  Yes  Donald your favor for red is a little alarming to most US citizens  Here a little black and white would be useful

Everything you see on the internet is tied to someone's vested interest  Nothing is free  even if you didn't pay for it  or did you  Read more from Mozilla Hacks   Author’s Note: This post imagines a dystopian future for web video, if we continue to rely on patented codecs to transmit media files. What if one company had a perpetual monopoly on those patents? How could it limit our access to media and culture? The premise of this cautionary tale is grounded in fact. However, the future scenario is fiction, and the entities and events portrayed are not intended to represent real people, companies, or events. ISPs have 1st Amendment right to block websites Net Neutrality is freedom of speech , digital or otherwise.  Limiting what people can access and say on the internet is like telling Americans to keep their ideas to themselves.  No one will no longer hear what anyone who is not influential has to say.  Net neutrality violates ISPs' right to edit the Internet, judge wrote.   source  https://arstechnica.com   Jon Brodkin - 7/10/2018, 12:25 PM
