Religion is not an opiate

 Blessed Virgin Mary

Illusion is the cousin of imagination. An idea permeates a person’s reality until it becomes real. New insights are born from the weeds embedded in the mind. Nurtured by misfortune entertaining thoughts ideas take shape that would have gone unnoticed. The artist is the master of illusion, so is a magician or a politician who seeks undeserved gain for himself, leaving his constituents to wonder when the moment of truth will pop up.

If religion is an illusion it keeps the soul alive. All civilizations have created deities, something or someone to worship other than themselves. What we believe is our reality and it becomes with time the truths, laws and customs that define our people.
