Robert Reich on Trump era politics

Image
" But we can say with some certainty that in an era when wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few individuals who have bought up key media, and when a thin-skinned president is willing and able to violate laws and norms to punish or reward, there is a growing danger that the public will not be getting the truth it needs to function in this democracy." "We’ve endured 10 months of Trump’s mayhem so far. A question I’ve been asking various people is how long they believe it will take for America to  recover  from Trump — if the nation ever will recover?" "It’s impossible to answer with any definiteness. It depends on how long you believe he’ll remain in office, whether you think Democrats will prevail in the 2026 midterms, what role you believe the Supreme Court will play in constraining Trump, whether you think American voters will boot him (or his successor) out of office in 2028, and if you believe we’ll ever have free and fair elections again." The pofit proposal that redefines Europe

Image
"The 28-point peace plan that the United States and Russia want to impose on Ukraine and Europe is misnamed. It is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else." "The plan was negotiated by Steve Witkoff, a real-estate developer with no historical, geographical, or cultural knowledge of Russia or Ukraine, and Kirill Dmitriev, who heads Russia’s sovereign-wealth fund and spends most of his time making business deals. The revelation of their plan this week shocked European leaders, who are now paying almost all of the military costs of the war, as well as the Ukrainians, who were not sure whether to take this latest plan seriously until they were told to agree to it by Thanksgiving or lose all further U.S. support. Even if the plan falls apart, this arrogant and co...

Government flick off

What to know on Day 35 of the government shutdown: The government shutdown is on track to become the longest in U.S. history on Tuesday evening after the Senate failed for the 14th time to advance a bill that would end the stalemate.  The vote to move forward with the House-passed continuing resolution was 54 to 44, with no new Democrats voting in favor. Sixty votes are needed for the legislation to advance The longest shutdown on record occurred in 2018 and 2019 and ended on Day 35, shortly after 9 p.m. The current shutdown will surpass that record tonight, barring an unforeseen breakthrough. Despite the failed Senate vote, lawmakers from both parties have hinted at the emerging contours of a deal to end the shutdown, possibly as early as this week. Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters that he thinks "there are people who realize this has gone on long enough an d there's been enough pain inflicted on the American people and it's time to end it...

With all theses rocket motors/funnels the ship is guided by the attitude of propulsion - a non scientific point of view To further guestimate if one motor fails another could be used as a replacement  So why do they (ships) blow up  You'll have to ask Musk that  Or maybe buying one of his cars would make him feel better  This is not to diminish his genius and fortitude regardless of political preference  He could be called the Henry Ford of the space age Certainly one of its progeny source     space.com
