The Second Coming

The Second Coming" is a poem written by Irish poet W. B. Yeats in 1919

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Yeats poem sounds familiar while written as the 1919 flu ravages  We repeat our sins our glorious moments of triumph and start a new age that makes and takes lives  With no less than a deaf and dumb shepherd who outrageous us all   we live on shaken ground to the taunts of retaliation  Change comes and go as we do but do we change

Dunno if you knew (I didn't) but Joni Mitchell recorded a song based on the poem!
